"The Ties that Bind"
Fluid undulating and limitless body movements require costumes and everyday wear
fitting the human form's boundless shape, patterns, symbols and colors.
Ties that cater to the body's whims and connect to the idiosyncrasies of time,
space and place are what Andriana Mitchell uses to connect body, mind and style.
Her designs know that new millennium bodies necessitate clothing that will
"shape shift" to complete any occasion. Andriana's designs feature the male
power tie reconstructing it into a feminine and sensual form of exuberant mosaic,
wearable art and fashion forward masterpieces.
Andriana holds a BFA in Dance & Choreography from California Institute of the Arts in
Valencia. Her designs were featured at her alma mater's 2004 Masters Dance performance
and 2005 fashion shows as well as the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance Center Stage Theater.
She supplemented her scholarships by teaching costume design and designing for faculty,
graduate and student productions. She quickly became the most in-demand designer
for dance performance at Cal Arts.
Andriana's interests include: dance and choreography, jewelry design, cooking,
hiking and swimming.
Andriana Mitchell Costume Design is available for commissioned projects,
specialty occasions, performance wear and touring pieces and everyday ensembles.
